Parties and Planning

30 May

This weekend we threw a house-warming party for the family. If you look below, you’ll see the rainbow cake that I baked for the occasion. I’m actually surprised that amid all the chaos of the past couple months I had time to throw together a cocktail party. (I’m going to post some photos from the party and write about the food and drinks that we served.) I’m still struggling to find time to finish my thesis; it’s in its second-draft form and nearly ready to be submitted. I’m planning my best friend’s bachelorette party and learning that wrangling about 16 20-something women is no easy feat. I won’t transcribe my to-do list, but I will say that between stress at work and pressing issues in my personal life, I’m feeling a bit overextended. This evening I was hurriedly finishing my June blog banner for tomorrow, only to realize that it will only be May 31st. Since the banner is still on my mind, I wanted to share the inspiration behind this month’s design:

My cousin brought a beautiful arrangement of spring tulips to our party. I love the way they bend over the vase. Check back on Wednesday—the real June 1st—for a refreshed banner featuring these pretty flowers!
