CBC Stanley Cup Final Montage: Canucks vs Bruins

2 Jun

Last night we watched Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final—Vancouver Canucks vs Boston Bruins. Before every game, the CBC does a montage of games prior, and last night’s was by far the best. It featured Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” and clips from the series leading up to this night. The video embodies the tension, glory, physicality, and emotions of the game; it captures the best hits in slow motion, the intense stares of the players, and the most memorable shots and plays from the Eastern and Western conference playoffs. Watching it makes me miss playing team sports.

Stanley Cup Final Game 1 Montage: Rolling in the Deep – Adele

In the last 19 seconds of last night’s game the Canucks scored for the win. There were four of us watching in our living room and we all leapt from our seats, practically screaming. It reminded me of a conversation I had with our downstairs neighbours last weekend. I wanted to let them know that we were throwing a party Saturday night and it might get raucous.

Me: “So anyway, just let us know if we’re too loud too late.”
Neighbour 1: “Oh, you guys are pretty quiet, I’m sure it will be fine.”
Neighbour 2: “Oh hi, you’re the neighbour from upstairs? The Canucks fans! The only time we ever hear you guys is when we’re watching a game and the Canucks score—we hear a dull ‘wooooOOOOOOOOOooooooo’ through the ceiling.”
Me: “Yep. We get pretty excited.”

As much as I love watching how far the Canucks have gotten (and as excited as I am about the Stanley Cup final!), I still think Chuck and Blair from Gossip Girl win for the best “Rolling in the Deep” music montage:
